Ellen Relkin is court-appointed lead counsel in the New Jersey In Re: Stryker Rejuvenate/ABG II Modular Hip Litigation and the LFit-V-40 Femoral Head litigation and was a member of the negotiating team for two settlements compensating approximately 4,000 plaintiffs in excess of $1.5 billion. Ms. Relkin was co-lead counsel in the DePuy ASR MDL litigation. In that capacity she played a key role in negotiating the $2.5 billion settlement for more than 8,000 victims of the failed hip implant.
Zimmer Biomet Hip Replacement Recall (New)
Weitz & Luxenberg is accepting clients suffering due to the failure of the Zimmer Biomet CPT Hip System. Many people now face revision surgery after a defective hip replacement. Recent research indicates a risk of post-surgical thigh bone fracture above that of other similarly designed hip systems.
Zimmer Biomet issued a voluntary recall of its CPT Hip System Femoral Stem 12/14 Neck Taper on July 2, 2024. The manufacturer plans to phase out sales of the device by the end of 2024.

No consolidated litigation for Encore Metal-on-Metal, but there are some cases in San Diego state court. We have nevertheless successfully resolved
cases.
Stryker LFIT V40
MDL 2768 in the USDC Massachusetts. NJ consolidation – Bergen County. Two confidential settlements were negotiated in part by Ellen Relkin, was announced in November 2018 and 2021. (The Accolade/ Meridian/Citation TMZF hip stem cases have been subsumed into this LFIT litigation). We are litigating cases for clients revised since the settlement involving disassociations of the femoral head.
